A Simple Guide to Buying Plastic Bottles

As you step out for buying plastic bottles, you see a wide variety of plastic bottles available in the market. The reason why it has become difficult to choose the right one according to your need. All types of plastic bottles are unique in their own way. Also, it is available in different shapes and sizes. If you don't know what things are considered while buying the selective bottle, go through some tips and tricks given here.

Plastic Bottles

Do you know what are Plastic Bottles?

It is a kind of a Jar which is built from high-density or low-density plastic. You must have seen, this container is used for various purposes like to store liquid or fluid like water, Juice, engine oil, cooking oil, medicine, milk, sodas, cleanser, chemical, and ink.

You will see very small plastic bottle containers or large bottle containers. The shape of the bottles is designed in such a manner that it has a good grip to hold in a hand.

The advantages of plastic jars over glass jars are that they are not breakable. In the manufacturing process and transportation, plastic is chosen over the glass.

Do you know how Plastic Bottles are made?

Plastic containers are made in a small factory as well as in the large factory. There are multiple stages involved in the making of Plastic containers. Most commonly it is used for holding consumable water and other beverages. These are produced using polyethylene terephthalate (PET) since the material should be solid and light in weight.

For unbending plastics materials, such as cleanser bottles and squeezing bottles Polyethylene (PE) is used. It is having a feature of high thickness.

The containers which like refillable water bottles and similar containers, Polycarbonate (PC) is used. To understand the manufacturing procedure, it is essential to understand the detailed information of PET, PE, PP, and PC.

Understand The process

Injection Shaping is the main phase of a regular 2-stage Reheat and Blow Machine (RBM) bottle producing process which is the main process. In the barrel of an injection forming machine, plastic pellets are plasticized where plastic is softened by heat. This softened plastic is then infused into multiple cavity molds where it takes the shape of long thin tubes.

The next steps are to cool down the bottle and it got some shape then it is removed from the mold. Once this is completed then they prepared for transportation.

Different Types of Plastic Materials Used

It is very important to understand what type of materials are used for making the bottles and then you can choose the right one. Below you will see the common materials used to manufactured plastic bottles.
Helping you to understand the materials used for manufacturing.

PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate)

Based on the material composition it can be either opaque or transparent. PET is a thermoplastic polymer.

PET is the byproduct of petroleum hydrocarbons. The first step is PET is polymerized to make long molecular chains.

Once the plastics are made the bottle manufacturing procedure can be started. Various other tests are performed to ensure the containers are impermeable via carbon dioxide.

There are various stages where different variables are monitored like transparency, shine, thickness, pressure resistance and shatter resistance.

Low- and High-Density Polyethylene

For assembling blow-molded milk and water containers, cleanser bottles, ketchup bottles, and others another kind of thermoplastic, polyethylene is utilized.

Both LDPE and HDPE can be thermoformed, blow-formed, infusion shaped, and so forth.

For higher rigidity, HDPE is utilized for some types of plastic bottles.

Polypropylene is an excellent thermoforming. It is basically low density, opaque polymer. It does not match the optical clarity of polymers eg polycarbonate. For bottles which are see-through transparent applications, it competes very well against polyethylene.

This is one of the expensive material compared to other jug making polymers. The bottle made from this material is of very good good quality and is restricted. The reusable jugs or bottles are made such as nursing bottles or those found on labs, water coolers.

The products made from this material are high in quality and properties. The transparent bottles which show substance and also have the ability to cope with routine mishandling are made from this material.

What should you look before buying plastic bottles?

It is very important to use the right plastic jars. There are a few areas you have to focus on. If you are choosing bottles for edible things then you need to guarantee your bottles are tough.

Here are some significant tips for choosing the best bottle according to your need.

BPA free: Bisphenol A, or BPA, is a chemical that is used to make the plastic items. It is being used since the 1960's.

Clean Thoroughly: You should check if the containers and jars are properly sterilized, as it goes through various process and places.

Personal Inspection: It is essential for every purchase to check whether the plastic bottles don't have any mold marks or any other physical issues.

Container Sizes: You can choose plastic jars in various range of sizes from small 30 ml to mid 500 ml to a large 1000 ml. Based on what is stored in the bottles select the right size. If you want to store the juice which is around 200 - 300 ml it is better to go with 300 ml water rather then buying a 1000 ml bottle jar.

Types of Lids: You will see different types of lids in a bottle or jars. Most of them are flip tops, twist caps, and spray caps. Few come with squeezable.

So, I hope now you are prepared to buy a plastic bottle with the correct size, correct shape, and for what purpose.
